Just after the new year, 15 top NCAA Division I women's golf teams will join The Groove's rapidly growing ranks. The programs, many of whom finished the fall ranked in the Top 25, join Coach Debby King and her Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who have worked with The Groove for two seasons now. Congratulations to Coach King and the team for the school's first ever NCAA Regional appearance last spring.

In their weekly column on the PGA Tour's website, the editors of "Golf After 50" recently wrote on the underrated importance of concentration for golfers of all ages. That brought to mind a story told by legendary teacher Fred Shoemaker in his book Extraordinary Golf. Fred asked 50 PGA teaching pros attending an Extraordinary Golf clinic the most important skill a successul golfer must possess. The most common answer? Focus and concentration.

The player, who currently ranks in the Top 50 in 2004 winnings, has asked us to keep his name to ourselves for a bit longer. Cindy Miller "didn't always believe in herself or her golf game, but she's having the time of her life now after winning the 2004 Golf For Women Magazine LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Championship at the age of 48." From an article at the LPGA website where she discusses what she's done to take her game to a new level, including using The Interactive Metronome to "become more rhythmical and smooth." The IM is the basis for The Groove.
